Chapter 06

2.png

There is a day every year that I look forward to with great anticipation. This day cannot be found marked in red on any calendar as it is not an official holiday, but for a certain group of people, they treat it like one. I am of course referring to Star Wars Day, observed by legions of fans annually on May 4th..

Each year, fans set aside May 4th to celebrate Star Wars because when you say “May The Fourth Be With You”, it closely resembles the franchise’s catchphrase, “May The Force Be with You”.  Movie theaters across the country have a marathon viewing of all nine films in the Skywalker Saga. Some fans even dress as their favorite characters from the films to fully enjoy the Star Wars experience. 00
While I don’t go to those lengths and I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan, I do like to celebrate on Star Wars Day in some fashion. Whether it is simply wearing my Darth Vader T-Shirt, beating the next level of the Lego Star Wars video game, or watching The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars Day has become a fun tradition that I look forward to every year.
Gabe, who recently turned six months old, gets to join in on the celebration this year. So far, our adventures have been limited to rambling on the farm, but I’m sure he will enjoy one of the greatest Sci-Fi Space adventures ever made. Since they don’t make a doggie Darth Vader mask to match mine, I ordered him a Star Wars bandanna to wear. My guess is that his favorite character will be Chewbacca, the Wookie co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon and trusty sidekick to Han Solo. George Lucas modeled  Chewbacca’s character after his Alaskan Malamute. If you are familiar with Lucas’ other famous film franchise, it will come as no shock that the dog’s name was Indiana.
Since Gabe is six months old and still filled with boundless puppy energy, I doubt he will sit still for an entire film. With the help of Arin’s Good Girl  Dog Treats though,  I’m sure he will make it well past the opening credits and the first few scenes of The Empire Strikes Back. That’s better than some human members of my family who fall asleep almost before you hit play on the DVD remote.
In fact, Gabe would do almost anything for Arin’s Good Girl Dog Treats, short of battling a Galactic Empire. He thinks the flavor is out of this world and the best part is you don’t have to travel to a Galaxy Far, Far Away to get them. Just a few clicks and they come right to your door faster than Han Solo made the Kessel Run. If you have not seen the movies, take my word for it, that’s pretty fast.
Even if you are not a Star Wars Fan, May 4th , or any day for that matter, is a good day to spend with your dog. If you are a fan of Star Wars, I can think of no better to let your pal join in on all the fun. Also, let me be the first to say, “May The Fourth Be With You.”
