Chapter 39
You have probably heard the phrase it is more blessed to give than receive, but I hold to my own axiom that it is more blessed to give AND receive. That’s because I am a gift-giver by nature and the thing about gift-givers is, they also like to get gifts. That’s one of the many reasons why I love this time of year. People are more generous and Peace On Earth, Good Will Toward Men, isn’t just a saying, it’s a mindset.
I have enjoyed giving and getting gifts from an early age. The gifts I give have gotten more elaborate as I have gotten older, but even when I was five years old, I would take the pocket change collected throughout the year to buy gifts for my family.
Now that I have Gabe, I have a furry best friend to buy gifts for, also. Last year, I got him a ball, but he seems to have just as much fun with a stick or an empty plastic bottle. Some of my family members say that Gabe is a “Bad Boy” or on the naughty list and that he doesn’t deserve a gift. I’ll admit, that Gabe has done more than his fair share of aggravating things this past year. They include, but are not limited to: being so excited to see me, he knocked me off of the golf cart, stealing my expensive Lion King plushie and turning poor Simba into a chew toy. Most recently, Gabe ran into the house, took a sniff of the Christmas Tree, and decided to mark it as his territory.
Whether a person or dog has been bad or good (so be good for goodness sake) should have no bearing on whether they get a gift or not, no matter what the song says. A gift should not be given based on performance but out of love and straight from the heart. That was the theme of the very first Christmas and it has not changed in more than 2,000 years.
No matter what anyone else thinks of Gabe’s antics over the past year, he is getting plenty of Arin’s Good Girl Dog Treats to go under the tree. Similar to the gifts of old, Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh, Arin’s Good Girl Dog Treats come in the three usual flavors of Turkey Bacon & Cheese, Pumpkin Peanut Butter and Dragon Slayer. These all-natural dog treats come cut in festive Holiday shapes and there is also an option to have an ornament filled with treats to go on your tree. All orders come with a special holiday coupon that gives you 10 percent off (11/28-12/1) of your entire order when purchased online.
If you want to go beyond buying dog treats, you can support Arin and her mission of adaptability and inclusion in the workplace. Giving Tuesday (December 3rd) is a great time to make a donation to this wonderful organization. They are a 501c3 organization, so all gifts are tax-deductible. I wish all the gifts I buy this time of year were tax-deductible but that’s another story all together.
Gabe and I have enjoyed being a part of Arin’s Good Girl Dog Treats over the past several years. As long as Gabe continues with his antics and just being Gabe, we will have plenty of adventures to share in the New Year. Until then, we would like to wish all of you readers a very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of Holiday Seasons.
LOVE,
JACOB & GABE
